Marvel Minimates Wave 39: Loki and Odin 2-pack

If you ask me out of all the Avengers solo movies Thor was by far the worst. It was kind of rushed due to   the fact that everyone was dying for an Avengers movie in 2012 and all they needed were Cap and Thor to make the movie come true. The movie was alright but can the Minimates do any better?

PACKAGING
Wave 39 was one of the last few waves that used the old style packaging. You have two separate windows to see the characters and on each side are pictures of the figures. On the back you have the roster which includes Thor, Loki, Odin, the Destroyer, Agent Coulson, Jane Foster and Frost Giant. The background of the packaging has intricate runes and symbols on it which is pretty cool.

THE FIGURES
Loki Odinson
"Loki, Odin's son and brother of Thor, is at the center of what is going on in Asgard and on Earth... but what is his role in these events?"

In the movie Loki was portrayed by Tom Hiddleston who later reprised his role for the 2012 Avengers movie. He was a great choice but honestly this Minimate looks nothing like him. His eyes are a bit too high up. Hiddleston's most definable feature would be his nose but as many of you know Minimates don't have those.

So look aside Loki is still a good figure. Diamond/Art Asylum did a fantastic job translating the costume from the big screen on a two-inch tall piece of plastic. My only comment about the armor is that it would've been better to has made his armor shinier. Otherwise he's great. He has a green cape, which is a new piece. His upper torso is green and bronze. His lower torso is also bronze he has black feet. His helmet, also a new piece, is dark bronze. I like it over the old Loki from the earlier waves (which I did not get).

For accessories he technically doesn't come with anything. An alternate hairpiece would've been good. For most of the movie he mostly used magic but if you wanted he can use Odin's Odinstaff. It look great highly detailed as always.

Overall Thoughts: LOVE IT! Get over the fact that he doesn't even look like Hiddleston he's probably the best Loki to date (besides Wave 45 Loki).

Score: 7/10

Odin Allfather
"The father of both Thor and Loki, Odin has ruled over Asgard for generations. But now the unprecedented period of peace and prosperity they have recently experienced is now threatened. Will Odin be in a position to stop this new threat?"

No he won't be but his son will be. In the movie Odin is played by Anthony Hopkins. I liked him as Odin and he portrayed the Allfather well in the end. Will this Minimate measure up? Let's find out.

Like I said previously, DST/Art Asylum did an amazing job with translating the actors to Minimates and Odin is no exception. He wears an upper torso piece, which is new, that is his armor with the cape attached to it. A Minimate first I think! His face has the eye patch on it and they made a great job making the rest of the face. His helmet is removable but the portion of hair comes off with it. He wears gauntlets which the Wave 39 Thor uses as well. His legs has silver lining on them and he has black feet.

For accessories Odin has his Odinstaff. Like I said it's highly detailed for a piece it's size. Honestly this was a great bonus to add to the pack. It wouldve been better if they had an alternate hair piece with just hair and not a helmet-hair combo.

Overall Thoughts: A great Minimate to add to the collection, now you can have someone boss your Thors around.
